Altoona, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Increased Altoona Profession and Know-how Centre (GACTC) is incorporating a different program offering for its students.
In accordance to a release, the new “Baking and Pastry Arts” application is geared toward planning equally high college and adult pupils for a profession as a baker, pastry chef or commercial baker.
Dean of Students at the GACTC Shawn Cerully explained baking is lined as section of their Culinary Arts system, but much more students are wanting to specialize in that area. She also observed that far more work opportunities are starting to be offered in this industry at areas these kinds of as resorts, places to eat, bakeries, grocery merchants and baking producing providers.
“Creating a Baking and Pastry Arts plan is a wonderful transfer for us,” Cerully mentioned. “The GACTC is always doing work to produce new packages in response to pupils passions and the demands of the area overall economy.”
The program will be taught by Chef Pamela Kenawell, an alumnus of the GACTC who has been training Culinary Arts with an emphasis on Baking and Pastry for eight years.
“I’m thrilled to be able to extend this training course and to educate additional distinct baking and pastry competencies to our pupils,” Kenawell said. “The baking and pastry industry proceeds to mature in our region, and I know our students are enthusiastic to be a portion of it.”
Learners in the new program will have the chance to earn market certifications these types of as OSHA 10, ServSafe Food stuff Handler Certification, ServSafe Allergens and ServSafe Office.
The GACTC also presents a lot more than 27 other packages, and they are now enrolling large faculty and grownup learners for the 2021-22 faculty calendar year.
